At Feet First Podiatry, we are dedicated to providing top-notch care and ensuring our patients receive the best treatment possible. Recently, we had a patient come in with a “very painful big toe”. After a thorough examination and a diagnostic ultrasound scan, we diagnosed the patient with a subungual exostosis.
What’s a Subungual Exostosis?
A subungual exostosis is a benign bony growth that forms underneath the toenail, often causing pain, discomfort, and sometimes deformity of the nail. It’s typically found on the big toe and can be quite painful if not treated properly.
To ensure the best outcome, we promptly wrote a referral letter to the patient’s GP for surgical removal and biopsy. We are thrilled to share that the patient has since had the exostosis removed and is healing beautifully!
