Behind the Scenes

Annual service and validation are extremely important to ensure instruments are sterilised to the highest standard and our machine is in tip-top condition.

A lot goes on behind the scenes at Feet First podiatry to ensure the highest patient care. ðŸ’™

How can we be sure our medical instruments are sterilised when they come out of our autoclave?

Very easily with our amazing engineer Paul Walls who visits our clinic annually to carry out servicing and validation of our equipment.

While a huge task, it is vital and of the utmost importance.

The engineer spends around five hours doing the following:

Firstly the engineer must calibrate his own test equipment.
Strip the steriliser.
Service and change any components required.
Attach calibrated test equipment to steriliser/autoclave.
Run and record cycles on autoclave to test temperatures and sterilisation.
Once tests are completed and passed remove calibrated test equipment and reassemble the autoclave.
A further cycle test must be run on the autoclave to confirm it’s working with a Bowie Dick or Helix Test.
The engineer then must run another calibration check on his own equipment.
Once calibration is satisfactory a test report is produced and is valid for one year.

At Feet First, we are dedicated to you having a very positive patient experience.
